With the vision of providing best in class datacentre facilities our client, a uniquely placed real estate firm are searching for a Project Manager to lead various projects for Hyperscale Data Centre developer on a large-scale Campus in Belgium. Their business model stands out from the crowd, squarely position in the hyper-scale datacentre market they partner with some of the leading firms, providing fully outsourced facilities from site planning & acquisition through datacentre design & construction and on-going ownership and operation of the asset. With a fully integrated supply chain they on track to develop 8-10 facilities across Europe within the next 6-8 years, with their technical team playing a leading role in the development of their facilities.

As the successful Project Manager, you will work closely with one of the worlds leading social media and internet technology firms, engaged on projects ranging in size from the replacement of a door to complete fit out of a data hall. Whilst gaining exposure to some interesting contacts in a client facing role, you will become responsible for all aspects of the project from Tender through to Absolute Completion and will work with the Health and Safety team and the commercial management teams to ensure that projects are delivered on time, safely and within budget.

Key Deliverables

  • To actively promote, set and live a culture of Health and Safety first.
  • Have strong robust team leadership skills and be a good “people manager”
  • To suggest trade contractors, suppliers, systems and manufacturers for team appraisal.
  • To take full responsibility for the delivery of all aspects of projects under their control.
  • To manage design process including the production and review of design and shop drawings in conjunction with the design consultants and client team
  • To offer high level strategic thinking at project level.
  • Day to day management of the Project team.
  • Work closely with the pre-construction team to develop working solutions to the clients ‘Ask’
  • Develop and produce a subcontract working scope documents and project plan during project pre-construction period
  • Chair and manage project ‘Kick off’ meeting with the client’s team
  • Manage and control all commercial aspects and costs of the project
  • Manage and ensure all aspects of the project execution plan are met and achieved
  • Appoint the specialist Trade Contractors to undertake the construction works
  • To check, comment on and sign-off the Trade Contractor’s Quality Plan and Inspection & Test Plan
  • To plan, programme and manage the construction phase process with Trade Contractor, design team and client’s rep.
  • To assist in the production of O&M information from the trade contractors

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have a professional, proactive approach. You will be an effective communicator and have experience in negotiating, both internally and externally with customers, clients, staff and subcontractors. This role would suit a candidate with an organized and methodical nature who is happy to work individually and as part of the wider project team.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Relevant technical / degree qualified
  • RICS/MCIOB (preferred)
  • Has been involved at a senior level in small and medium sized (€1m – 20m+) projects.
  • Industry experience. Proven track record of successful project delivery.
  • Preferably experience in data centres or smart building developments
  • A recognised qualification in construction management.
  • Knowledgeable and good understanding of the project process, from Pre-Construction to completion and handover.
