Fantastic opportunity for a CSA Engineer to join ambitious Real Estate firm linked to a multi-billion-pound turnover main contractor engaged on Hyperscale Data Centre construction projects in mainland Europe.

Candidate Profile

This role is suited to an individual driven by high standards, someone who has a proven record in taking real estate projects through all design stages and is comfortable delivering a compliance and quality control role on a single project (in the first instance). The role of excellent opportunity for a Civil or Structural Engineer to progress through real estate functions and gather an appreciation of the investment cycle associated to major data centre projects. The role offers 2 paths for progression, they are through Development Management or technical leadership. The candidate should have experience in the design and delivery of data centres, preferably hyperscale.

Job Purpose

To work alongside the Main Construction team of contractors and designers on an exciting European hyperscale data centre project. The Individual will be acting in a review and supervisory capacity to the design and delivery of the project. In addition to the compliance and quality functions, the individual will work alongside the Development Management and Commercial teams to ensure the long-term value of the asset is maintained. Moving towards project completion, the individual will work alongside the Operational teams to assist in handing the site over to the FM team.

The candidate’s background should include all or most of the following experience:

• A background in Civil or Structural Engineering, or as a Resident Engineer.
• The design and construction of Data Centres, preferably hyperscale
• Experience in developing projects, and basic project management functions of document management, excellent communication and collaboration.
• Qualified Engineer, to degree level, with approximately 3 – 5 years of post-graduate delivery experience.
• Experienced in the delivery of Technical Projects;
• Evidence of strong interpersonal and people management skills are essential

The duties will consist of:

Project Delivery

• Support the design process through site prepared information (Stage 3) to construction information for delivery (stage 4 -5).
• Provide input to the services design, focusing on Civil or Structural Engineering, and supporting the co-ordination of other services packages.
• Review relevant information and ensure compliance with the Employers Requirements (SoR’s)
• Engage with the main contract design team to understand the basis of design development and any changes which are being presented.
• Ensure information is compliant with the Planning / Permitting requirements for the scheme.

Handover Preparation and Handover

• Work alongside the Main Construction team to prepare for handover. Ensuring site quality control procedures are in place.
• Attend commissioning activities to ensure compliance with the Employers requirements.
• Undertake quality inspections of the site to ensure the highest installation standards are maintained.
• Work alongside the Project Manager / Contract Administrator to provide the relevant design compliance notices.
• Work alongside Operational teams to ensure outline terms align with operational expectations and practicalities.

In Operation

• Support the change control process in delivery.
• Support any RFI queries from the FM provider, based on retained knowledge of the scheme.
